and for the alternator, just take the belt off if you're worried about horsepower....but if you start to lose to much battery power then yeah your systems will go down. Might be worth it to see how long you can go without an alternator on a fully charged battery. The only electrical components you really have are engine stuff, and maybe taillights, i know some regulations say you have to have tails and brake lights. Pulsar would be fun for Hornet class i've thought about it with a CA18DE

no lights only the eccs and engine running. just afraid that ill be sitting in the staging area behind turn four wall waiting for the division or 2 in front of us to finish and then after 20-30 minutes of sitting it wont start.how much hp to gain off no alternator?
how much hp from no power steering?
do you guys know much about caster/camber and tire pressure. figure i could gain corner speed.

Yes, O Harris, we shall (Certainly, I won't). Man, put some colour in your posts and be a little human, will ya? Jeez...If you're so worried about "Internet Haters", then please practice what you preach and work on your bedside manner some, 'K? The guy's new here!
Icehawkey: All I can tell ya is that if ya want speed, "Speed costs; How fast ya wanna go?". You could possibly go with a GA16i or CA18DE, and since you're racing, I'm assuming that you don't roll your ride on the street, so you can set it up any way ya want. If you can put a carb and vac-advance distributor on the engine ya got, that'll help some...plus you'll totally eliminate the brain box. If ya can't swing that, then just "floor it, go fast and turn left". Best of luck to ya!

umm...dude...pay attention...it has to be stock, that means no engine swaps unless it was available for that model that year.

okie dokie dudes- got some ideas now. props to yall.
gonna try the no power steering thing and see if i like it in hot laps and maybe the heat race. gonna try some wheel adjustments and tire pressure things.
im already the fastest car in the corners but maybe three or four cars can catch me in the straight-aways. if i get even faster in corners then ill be ok.
funny thing about these bulletin boards is theyre all the same in that some people are uptight some jokesters some to the point and some who just wanna flame everyone. doesnt matter if its an ice hockey forum. parenting. cars. model airplanes. poop fetishes etc...just the different type of humans we have to put up with.

OK, my bad: Hasta be stock. Poop. I know where you can get a 6-71 jimmy blower (Heehee)...knew that wouldn't slide...
What about them 11/15 series heads, or pistons that'll allow the compression to go up? Can you use aftermarket cams? At all? Headers? man, where can we go with this?

What exactly is meant by stock? If it has to be specific to that year and not any particular trim level, you should be able to go CA18DE since it was available that year in the pulsar and maybe do the KA24 throttle body swap, I'm sure you'll like it's power over the E16's power! Can you modify exhaust or intake at all?

if its anything like what i'm use to with hornet class its year and model specific, so you can't get away with a CA18DE unless its a late 80s pulsar
