Fuel injector replacement on a Ca18de

Do I have to take the fuel rail off to replace them..I took the mass air flow cover(or what ever ya call it) off the top of the engine and have a clear path to undo the injector bolts but the book says to take the fuel rail off too..Getting that thing off looks like a major undertaking...anyone change them without messing with the rail?

It's only three bolts I think. Not real difficult. Here's the steps out of the FSM:

1. relieve fuel pressure
2. remove throttle chamber, throttle chamber stay, Idle Air Adjusting (I.A.A.) unit, intake side valve cover, and P.C.U.
3. Disconnect fuel hoses and pressure regulator vacuum hose
4. remove fuel rail mounting bolts
5. take out fuel rail and injectors
6. it says to use a soldering iron to melt through the rubber hose btwn the injector and the rail...then install new hose.

I removed all the bolts and rubber hoses but there is one metal line on the far left of the fuel rail thats soldered onto it..its going back to who knows where(I can't see it), this is the only thing keeping me from getting it off...as for using a soldering iron to get the hose off(I saw that in the Chiltons book too) I say HELL NO to that one(theres gas vapor and remnants of 93 octain fuel still in that hose)...I just used a sharp razor cutter

I finally managed to get the new ones in and the whole ordeal was a big pain in the arse..the pulsar is just about completed, many many parts were changed and all fluids too..the only thing left is that %$#$ %$%$ reverse light not working problem,I'm just fed up spending so much time on reverse lights and I don't real give a sht if they work or not.. I may end up just slapping some kind of switch on the shifter that will at least get me past inspection then I'm home free till next year..I'm still waiting for my title, its been 30 days since I bought the car from a dealer in Pennsylvania, called him up and he said the DMV is real slow there..WTF..lazy *&^*&^ state workers..
