I did a Holley conversion which has an open element filter, but you could do it with the stock filter by chopping off all of the metal surrounding the filter thus eliminating the snorkel. Just plug off the cold start hose bung coming from the exhaust heat shield. I think that's the only thing that would be seriously affected. Anyway, here's a link to pictures of my engine with the full-blown Holley intake without emissions.
If you search you may be able to find the thread with the step-by-step procedure for fabbing it yourself. It should give you a little more top-end power.

We discussed this quite a while ago. You can achieve a noticeable difference over 4k rpm simply by flipping over the air cleaner top. Make sure you pull off the gasket and stick it on the other side and point the arrow towards the rear.
BTW B11, that's a beautiful looking engine.....your girl looks pretty sweet too

Easy come....Easy go. I'm sure your passenger seat will have the pleasure of more than one set of sweet cheeks. Nice to hear you've got your priorities straight

That's your PCV valve...it lets crankcase pressure vent through a small filter in the aircleaner housing and get recirculated into the motor to burn. If you take this off, you have to put a breather on the valve cover to let pressure off, or else your valve cover gasket will blow

Actually, the PCV valve is on the uderside of the intake manifold and connects to the hose on the other side of the valve cover. The one you're talking about is the crankcase breather and you can stick a little filter on there to let the air vent.
That tube coming off the manifold is called the Air Injection Pipe. It supplies exhaust gas to the carb to get recirculated. With a stock carb you're car won't run right without it. BeEleven won't have a problem since he's running a Holley carb. You can still open up your airbox, just leave the air injection stuff in place.
Have you tried flipping the air cleaner lid?

Valve. On the E16s, the Air Injection Valve is built into the air cleaner housing...that big bulge where the tube from the exhaust comes in.
On my CA18DE, the AIV is an Air Induction Valve and allows fresh air from the air cleaner to be pulled into the exhaust manifold. It's designed to help reduce hydorcarbons and carbon monoxide emissions.

I think you contradicted yourself with your last two posts.
yep, in his first post he was referring to EGR, but it's kind of a somewhat common mistake...i guess. And duh, valve, should have though of that i was like...v...v...what is that for. and on my CA20E it has like a electric motor i think that forces fresh air into the manifold from the filter box

Is the PCV the piece of metal between 2 hoses, one from the valve cover, and other under the carburettor?
