Oh man, that's not good to hear. Hope you find one. Guess maybe I should have bought that thing a couple months ago when we talked... Just wasn't to be I guess. Loren
Good to hear from you. I'm glad I didn't break the car up and sell all of the good stuff now. The car club I belong to just started a new euro-rallycross series and I will be using the car regularly again.
Great news, although there is a mark on it where the piston touched it, the 37mm Motorsport intake valve is not bent after all. I checked it with a dial indicator today. Very lucky indeed. So there was only one slightly bent exhaust valve and I have four spares. Dodged a bullet there.
For those of you who have always wanted to know what a chamber looks like on a 15M Motorsport cylinder head here's a pic:
I really wish we could have taken you up that too. I'd be racing now instead of wishing. Keeriste, the power would have been about perfect since I did some figuring. Been taking the daughter's G20 with the SR20DE to the autoX. It's about 2850 lbs. with 145 hp. The Sentra will be sitting at close to 1600lb. and if it got even close 120 hp and comparing it to the acceleration of the G20 it'd be pretty darned fast. 1.5 hp/lb. should make a good difference between the two. Need piston to valve clearance spec so I can get on with it. Good to hear from you too Mike.
I have the exact same Nissan, 1987 B12 XE coupe. Where should I start hopping her up? I have some ideas but you can point me in the right direction.
Ever had a problem with head gaskets blowing in the E16? I've been through 2.
Deron
Head Gasket problems. I have been through 2 myself. Just did a complete overhaul on my e16s. found that the water pump blades were corroded. 20thou rebore and a branch and free flow exhaust, Best thing ever

I got an E16S Engine with an 15M head, carbed in my 1988 B12 Coupe
(how can i insert a pic?)
Cool, I'd like to check out a pic or two of your B12. I wrote a tutorial on how to post pics HERE. It's not as complicated as it sounds. I just tried to be completely thorough so you would not have to guess on anything.
So, here some pics of my baby, he's only driven in summer when it's dry just for cruising
The engine was replaced a month ago because the other one burned too much oil and it has to be rebored. The engine on the pics is one i bought 10 years ago and replaced everything that was a bit used it only had 80000 km. Cause it's winter now i took the time to open the whole thing to clean it put some new gaskets and.....
b12brothers, nice looking E16S. i don't really get to see many nice E series carb setups. we only really do the E15ET's here in Ozland. this is my E15ET setup,
how do you find throttle response with your E16S and the 15M head?

Absolutely satisfied you just have to touch the pedal and it goes off like a rocket. Here in Luxemburg all the e16s were imported with this configuration.
84 hp and about 130N/m.(if you want i can take a picture of the whole engine bay)
The e16i i bought 2 years ago (from Germany) is lame compared to the e16s. The e16s exhaust collector is a 4-2-1 and the i-model has(d) a 4-1, i changed it into a 4-2-1 from spare parts and now you can kill the TDI's with it. Throttle reponse is not as good as with the s-model but at 2500 'til 4500 rpm it's a rocket compared to the Primera wagon with an 2.0 litre 16V.
I don't have this charbon-filter-fuel-gases thing, it wasn't needed 'cause in the '80s the emisson control was not that severe than it is now, but i still don't need a catalitic converter, 'cause that emission thing is only when the cars were imported after 1991.
I know it has nothing to do with heads but how does this chokeless hopeless carb look like?

Aha. Just asked to be sure because the casting number is in the head and also on the front like all the heads i collected from several B12 with the E16S engine.
Are the casting numbers stamped on 2 places on every head, because the 33M i bought few days ago has the casting # in and outside.
Earlier in the thread there was something with "shaving" the head, my Nissan bible says that you can cut 0,1mm from the head if necessary when the head is not straight anymore and the same for the cylinder-block that makes 0,2mm but that's the limit.
I did change heads several times (not on my cars), they all were checked and redone by the machinist and never had problems.
