ca18det help

I'm new to this forum it's nice to see poeple still talking about the pulsars. I just found a gem . I got a 87 se that is damn near perfect. 90,000 org miles & runs like it was new. Being one that can't leave well enough alone. I found a connection on the ca18det motor . What I need to know is how to run it? The motor comes with a cut harness & no ecu. I could build a stand alone but thats very difficult & expensive . Do any of you guys know who might have an ecu & harness FS, or is it possible to get my ecu reprogramed. Any advise on this is welcomed.

I think JWT can reprogramed an ECU from the CA16/18DE to run the DET.

do a search on ca18det and you should find the answers, but if you don't find what your looking for, boost_boy should be able to help you out.

the 16de harness will work, as well as the 16de ECU if you get it reprogramed by JWT, and you will also need a Z32 MAF and fuil pump(from 300zx or maxima), you will need the 18de or det tranny(16de tranny will fit bug not handle the boostwell), clutch pedal, hydrolic clutch pump, hydro clutch hoses, all engine moutns are the same, im pretty sure thats all that will be needed, you have the best car to have if your doing the ca18det swap, good luck and caint wait to see it in there and running

great info

damn you guys are awesome! the tranny info was great, but is there some kind of hydro to cable conversion available. I wasn't to sure . I' ve been autoXing a crx for years now and I'm used to the after market support being limitless. I've found that the pulsar is overlooked. If any one has any info or suggestions on suspension(spings , shocks) I'm looking for a good street/ race setup. My first thought was a prokit with tokiko's or koni reds. If any of you guys have any better ideas I love to here about it. Thanks for the help

You can use the 88 pulsar's (CA18DE) harness, reconfigure the harness to accomodate the CA18DET and I have two JWT ECU with Z32 AFMs if you need one. JWT charges $599 for the ecu alone.

It figures that the cpu will cost more than the motor. I like your quote "you gotta pay to play". I got the car for 500 from a friend with new brakes, alt, starter. Hell the tires are almost brand new. The body is perfect other than the 14 year old paint. If I can do this swap for 1500 not including odds and ends. This could be a impressive street car. A friend who works at a local autozone found a connection on the motor for 375+125 shipping.
If your interested in parting with the JWT ecu let me know. I'm still in the planning stage now, but I'll stay in touch . Any other advise is truly welcome. I've only had the car for 2 weeks and you guys are the only useful info I've found.

If interested, I'll cough up my JWT eprommed CA18DE (T) ECU that has some slight drama for $350. The issue with this computer is that when you cut the key off, the ecu keeps the engine running until you either unplug it or remove the ignition relay; other than that the ecu performs beautifully. It will come with the Z32 MAF which is worth over $150 by itself. The cost to get this computer repaired is between $80-$100 tops. I didn't want to waste the money on getting it repaired because I'm no longer using it. The other one is programmed for 550cc injectors and Z32 MAF and also have a 3 bar map program that will support over 300hp from a CA18DET. This ECU is going for $550 with the MAF. Once again if interested, let me know!

i second that one, hehe, for your suspension, it will be hard to find a company with aftermarket stuff for the pulsar, but you can use the suspension from 94 and earlier sentras, so if you can find coilovers for that, or springs, it will fit into the pulsar, same with the sway bars
