Question E16 Carb rebuild.......ATTN: BlownB310

Alright Im working at a Garage now and have been assigned the BITCHS of the shops cars.... You know Engine/tranny swaps.... Wiring Harnesses, ETC.... All the ones that the shop owns but need MAJOR help.... So weve got an 86 Sentra wagon with @$500 in New parts... The last shop told the lady that OWNED it they rebuilt the carb........NOT!!!!! Anyways....Its got new coil, distributor, plugs, wires, sap, rotary, starter, altenator, auto ring gear, and then some. SINCE I happen to be a Nissan person Ive been assigne the Lovely task of rebuilding the carb.... I told them they are one of the biggest bitches to rebuild and to find a used...Didnt work. So I need Input, Advise, and PRECAUTIONS. Ive rebuilt many carbs without manuals with great success... I have the Snap-ON ShopKey Diagrams, measurement, as so on. I just want to make sure it goes off without a hitch... ANY/ALL help is appreciated.

BTW: Its a Hitachi DFE 2832-1... The book says it shoud be a DFE 2832-6. (they all fall under the same rebuild kit # though) Automatic, NON-Cali.

Well, the biggest PITA is getting the float set correctly. Follow the directions in the kit using the little measuring device that comes with it. Hopefully the float level will be correct. If not you have to pull the top of the carb back off and readjust, without losing any of the parts or screwing anything up. Also, make sure the fuel inlet is super clean, including the small screen under the seat. Basically, it's pretty much the same as any other carb.

Of course I rebuilt mine some time back and it didn't change a thing. Had to buy a new one.

Well I rebuilt it today.... It wasnt as Bad as Id feared... Not the easiest By a LONG shot... Found the primary passages nearly clogged with carbon (soot). The float level was WAY out of wack. And the tip was broken off the TPS. Lets see could any of these be the problem??? Im picking up a TPS at the JY tomorrow and Ill let you know if it was successful Mon. night
