E15 Head Cracking

My B11 Sunny has just starting getting small amounts of oil in the water, no water in the oil, a few people I have spoken to say that this is common as the heads tend to crack somewhere under the cam journals and let oil into the water passages, is this the case or is it more likely to be a head gasket failure? Although if it was head gasket failure wouldn't it be more likely that water went into the oil instead?

Cheeers, Jeff

PS: Here in NZ trying to find a good E15 head is near impossible.

Well, I think no matter which it is you will have to pull the head soon. I would lean towards a bad head gasket. Unless you have a turbo you shouldn't be having problems with the head cracking.

BTW, welcome to the forum. I see you have a Skyline....DROOOOOL

Well, pulled the head this morning and there is definatly no sign of gasket failure, damn there goes the cheap option. So, the head must be cracked somewhere, I will take it in to the local machine shop and get them to pressure test it and see what we find.
:-) Yea, the Skyline is a nice car, I don't drive it much, it's mainly just my sunny weekend driver.

sorry to get off the thread topic but i was just wondering, do you see any parts at all from your skyline that could possible be used on the B11 or even the B12? I heard a rumor that the brakes on an R32 could be used on a B12, but I doubt it.

Hmm, not to sure, I wouldn't imagine anything would be a straight swap over but with modifying, maybe.

Heads cracked alright, as soon as the head was stripped and cleaned there it was, started about half way along cam bearing two and out about two inches into the head area.

Too bad it's the head. We seem to be up to our necks in E15 heads here in the states. I guess the nearest place that would have a good supply would be Australia. Let us know if you track one down.
