Unhappy engine trouble.. 89 pulsar.. help!!

i have an 89 pulsar 1.8L dohc
and for a few days it would bog if i got hard on the gas taking off, but once i was going it would be fine if i pressed it. if i took off slow then slammed it down it would be fine also.
then one day it just died, everything seems fine, but there's no spark at all.

Ignitor? Coils? Plugs? Boost_boy had an ignitor and a set of coils up for auction on ebay but I think they ended with no bidders.

These parts eventually sold after I had relisted them, but I do have extras if needed.

ignitors suck to replace, too. expensive. try to get any of the parts from auto wreckers.. they're an arm and a leg to buy new.

***** You guys talking about the power transistor that fires the coils? They are a common failure on the CA18DE's. They aren't hard to replace though....

Not that I'd ever do it but those ignitors would probably fit nicely in someones sock. Maybe in the wasteband. Maybe I'll go harvest a few this weekend.

heh. we went to a wrecker in BC who wanted $250 for the ignition module, it was mounted on a ca16de under some old hoods and garbage in his junkyard. My dad figured I shoulda just jumped the fence and stole it, since the 'guard dog' signs were old, and there was no dog( at least not living ) in the yard. woulda probably been pretty obvious who did it.. if he ever happened to look at that engine again in his entire life. I'm not the theiving type, though. If I was, I would've saved $80 ( I found it way cheaper somewhere else)

They are about 500 bucks. I had to replace this part, and got it for $80 (steal of a deal) at a wrecker.

I'm NOT SURE if the part # is the same from 87 - 89 pulsar SE's, but the part # for mine was 22020-85m10. you should go see your local nissan dealer and find out from them before buying anything, though.

They seem to sell better once the auction is over! I have 3 sold this week alone.

A friend of mine needed one recently and he paid $225 new from the dealer. I don't know if that is the dealer cost price or not, but it might be because he works there.
