Unhappy Dieing When Stopping and NO POWER

I recently got my 87 sentra running againg after have to replace the rocker arm shaft after it broke in half. But ever since i have had the car it always seems to die when coming to a stop or when i am completely stopped. It also has no low end power, i tried flipping the air box cover over to get a little more out of it but it seems to make even less power at lower rpms. I haven't taken it on the highway yet( where i do most of my driving ). Any ideas about what might be killing my car or why i have no power at low rpms would be great.

***** It sounds like you need a carburetor overhaul or replacement.

Thanks for the reply, I really apperciate any help. I was messing around with my car to day and i checked my PCV valve at it was pretty bad, so i replaced that and also messed with my timing alittle. The timing adjustment seemed to give me alot more of my low end power but the car still dies when coming to a stop every once in a while. The thing that get me most about the dieing, is that there is no certain time it does it, just when i am stopping or coasting and i put it in neutral. Sometimes it does it when it is cold, sometimes when it is hot.

Check the vacuum lines to the carb. Also make sure your dash pot is functioning.

Try doing a search. I have posted instructions for checking and adding your own ground to the fuel shut-off solenoid. If the solenoid closes while your car is idling, it will stall.

Try doing a search. I have posted instructions for checking and adding your own ground to the fuel shut-off solenoid. If the solenoid closes while your car is idling, it will stall.

I checked for continuity between the 4 and 5 pins on my ECU ( thats where the chilton manual says to look for the fuel shut-off solenoid) and they didn't have continuity. I also have a problem, i don't have any wire's going to the driver side of the carburator like your post said, but i do have several plugs on the passenger side.

I have a list of all the harneses:
1. 2 wire harness on top of carb ; blue & black/red
2. 3 wire harness on big brass looking thing ; gray & red/black & red/white
3. 6 wire harness on front ( towards front of car ) ; white/green&whiteblue& 2 black wires and 2 white wires
4. 2 wire next to throtlle position sensor ; grenn/yellow&green/red.

Check the vacuum lines to the carb. Also make sure your dash pot is functioning.

Ok i know where the dash pot is now, but i was wondering if you could tell me how to check it and also what it does. When i am working on my car i like to know what i am messing with .
