Well I don't know what chiping means, but I kinda know what he's saying.
We are trying to bootleg the ecu and program it with our mods..thats all!

Does anyone have any clue how big the prom on our cars are?
or how big the code would be in bytes?

It's not really bootlegging since they really only crack the code to read the program and rewrite portions of it and put the modified program on a new chip. The cost of the upgraded chip is for the modifications to the program.

Yup...thats what reverse engineering is. But what modifications did they make? And wouldn't those modifications be copyrighted?

Well, the chipping they are talking about is custom. They can pretty much change what you want. For example, remove or adjust the rev limiter, advance the timing, modify the fuel mixture. Depends on what mods you have and what you want done.

As far as copyright goes does it really matter? As long as you get the mods you want at the price you want. I wouldn't get too wrapped up about copyright. It's up to the guy making the modified chip to copyright the stuff. As users we don't need to be concerned with copyright.

LOL! I know...
But suppose we mass produced it! Then we'd be in trouble..
If it was just for one of us...or like 5 of us then it wouldn't matter.

im having this done right now as we speak for my d15b7 honda.
heres they guy thats doing it.

http://www.egtuning.com/

he said he dicked with nizzy's before to a small degree. and said hed send me the prgram to chip this crap. we ll see i guess.
heres his site. drop him an email, if he gets enuff interest sparked, might be able to start doing nizzy's as well as hondas on a regular basis.
my guess is that since JWT can damn near run a honda motor off a sr20 ecu, they are pretty easy to chip compared to hondas code.
then again...what do i know?
