Finished my headgasket project

Alright, Just updating on my head gasket project. I got everything back together and my car started (My first time working on an engine)

I have a problem though...My engine smokes, well my exhaust manifold smokes. the smoke doesn't go out of the exhaust pipe, it is just like burning the exhaust manifold?!?!?! I was just curious if anyone knew why this is happening??

I painted the maifold, but I used high heat paint (for engine parts)
also could this just be old oil and stuff burning up?? the car hasn't been started in around a month (I had a lot of time to fix the car, plus I'm pretty lazy)

so if anyone has any input that would be fantasgreat!

Well, if you painted it you have your answer. Even engine paint isn't made to take the heat of an exhaust manifold. You would need exhaust paint or header paint. It may just smoke for a while and then settle down once all the burnable stuff is gone.

BTW...Congrats on getting it running!
