buying a clutch
Hey guys...this is my first time purchasing a clutch for an E16 and I want to get a good deal and a good clutch. The specs are 180mm and 18 splines for an '86 E16 2bbl....correct me if I'm wrong. Right now, I've got my eyes on an Exedy kit for $115, but if Daikin and Exedy are the same thing, then I can get it for less elsewhere. ANyone know or have recomendatoins?? Thanks...Blown, I KNOW you have an opinion!!

***** I have never run anything but a stock Nissan clutch in my cars. In my B11 race car, I use an OE Nissan clutch too, but I used a pressure plate from a Datsun 210. They are identicle, but have a bit more clamping pressure due to being RWD. I'm making about 150 hp and it doesn't slip, and that's with a welded diff!
it should work with the 31A tranny too blown ?? i might need that kindda grip soooooooooooooooon hehe vacation time right now ... im putting the engine in in the start of the week...

***** Hello Martin,
No the 31A uses a 190mm clutch.

OK, so I priced some stuff...I can get an Exedey 210 pres. plate for $50.00, an Exedey clutch disc for about $45.00, and a new throw-out bearing for $26.00...if I go through with this, will I be getting ripped off?

***** It sounds about right. I don't really know for sure, because I usually use genuine Nissan parts. I can't confirm that an aftermarket company's clutch has the same rated clamping pressure than the Nissan one.

Hmmm....you know, they have some listed as just "JAPAN" and the MSRP is the same as the exedy but the retailer's prices is lower...so I'm assuming that's the genuine Nissan part...might as well get that.
