Need trans heeeeeeep!!!!!(again??)

Whats up to all!! To fill you all in on whats been going on with my b12.......I tried to bolt up the trans(auto) ...even though it was missing som tread in the bell housing. I preyed it woul hold but it didnt! The trans is gooD and Ive even located a old one that would fit the car. My question is ...can I swap the bell housing for a good one? If so...can I do it myself

***** The answer is yes, you can switch the bell housings. You will need a main case gasket though. I'm glad you are "handy-wit-a-wrench" . You'll be needing that.

THanx for the advice B!!!!!! I found a spot that has the gasket kit for my transmission. Im a little worried though because there is a gear set behind the inner cover INSIDE the bellhousing that must be removed before you can take off the housing itself. There is a gear that is offset from the main shaft that is bolted behind the housing with a lock tab. (wheew Im longwinded!!) How do I get the cover off without disterbing the innards of the tranny? Can It be done? Is this the end of project "Duckzilla"?Will I have enought spare change after buying parts to cop a "sammbish"?tune in and find out !!! Any advice will be helpful......
