Ca18det information

I want any information any one can spare on the CA18det engine.
And a quick comparison / differences between that and the SR20DET engine.

Weblinks,info , guesses , anything!
Feel free to email me anything or pm me or add me to your icq if you love the ca18det.

I have an 88 Bluebird Attesa
probably called a "stanza" in the states.

It is the limited edition 4wd turbo ca18det powered 4 door.

Its had a bit of modification...
With a custom front mount intercooler insulated pipes etc..., Garret T3 turbo and a 2.5" turbo back exahust system.

It generates alot of power and im about to make extractors for this thing as the stock cast iron manifold is a depressing sight.

I was thinking about in the future dropping in a SR20DET in its place. I have heard some random information about the differences between these engines (SR20DET & CA18DET), mostly like its not much different apart from the displacement. I was thinking the SR internals would be alot "beefyer".

Any information would be of help

Thanks

I also have never myself changed the transmission oil on this. Where is the filler and are there any special procedures?

I was thinking of doing a hot drain and filling it back up again. Im pretty sure these gearboxes had NO filter. Any special methods/ tips?

Here is a thread with alot of good info. I did a search on "CA18DET SR20DET" and came up with three pages of stuff. Try searching, it's the best way to get the info you need. Mainly because the issue is like a dead horse....it gets dragged out and beaten on a regular basis. It's easier for you to do a search than for everyone to retype the same info over again. Not trying to slam you, just trying to help.

I'm not sure about where the plugs are but you might try going here or here or here and asking if nobody on this forum responds
