its a custom setup done by a local muffler shop. all u have to do is decide what muffler u want take it to the shop and they will run new pipping for u. if i knew better at the time i would have run 2 in piping. by the way, if u havent had anything done to ur exhaust u might want to go ahead and replace the cat before u dish out the cash for an exhaust. i needed a new cat way before i thought about putting an exhaust on my car and the shop recommended a aftermarket high flow cat that u can get from anywhere for about 60 to 80 bucks
Holy cow I can't believe it! My beloved 13 to 1 compression E16 threw a rod today.
Now that I am thinking back on it, I built it in '96. I have been flogging this thing for 10 years! I guess I can't complain. It saw 7,000 rpm regularly. I'll get some pics up when I get the engine out and apart. Now I'm looking for a cheap used E16 to rebuild. I sold all of my E16 stuff thinking this engine would never fail!
Hey blown, haven't seen ya around for a while. I've got a working e16s that i'd let ya have for cheap, but it's over here in NC... And still in the parts car... (want the whole thing? LOL)
Real sorry to hear about the engine tossing a rod, that thing must have flown! I'm in the process of fixing up my e16i right now. I didn't even get done breaking in the new clutch when my headgasket popped. That transmission kicked ass though!

Hello Whitefox,
Thanks for the offer, but I got my old '86 B11 wagon back from my brother. I towed it home last night and will remove the good running E16 from it for the race car. Nothing fancy this time, just want to get the rally car running again quickly and cheaply. I'm going to swap in the Isky ground cam and twin 44mm Mikunis from the blown motor. I'll change the rod bearings because I know the upper shells will have the copper showing and change the timing belt. It will be interesting to see how well a stock compression, small valve E16 will run with a cam and twin carbs.
Why do you think the head gasket blew on your car so quickly? Refresh my memory on your combination. Are you running the big valve Euro head on it?
Nupe, it's the original 33m head, it just took one too many roll-starts and blew between cyl 1&2. The top end had easily over 180k on it. I'm replacing the head with a remanufactured one that I bought last year.
I had payed for a complete RRC E15ET from NISMO87R a few months back, but haven't heard from him in over a month...
I was hoping to get that engine in, but have to just use this one for the time being. (or longer.. grrr)
