Dip stick doesn't stay while running

The damn dip stick in my E16S refuses to remain where it should be, ejecting itself about a half inch out of the engine at some point while it runs. It does this very often. It fits in place snugly.
Anybody have any ideas as to why it's doing this? Let me hand out some more info on the engine: It's got over 160k on it, runs a bit rough, and tends to overheat... all the time. (I run my heater on nothing less than 3.. It's my winter car, so no big deal.) But! She's still reliable.

Any clues? It's done this for as long as I've owned it (~30k) and may also be the cause of oil loss. Any help would be, well, helpful.

You might check your PCV valve and hose that connects it to your valve cover. Sounds like there's too much air pressure in your crankcase. If those are fine, you simply have too much blowby, and the engine needs a rebuild.

I seriously hope that it's only the PCV.. there's quite possibly a good chance of it needing a rebuild, however. I would much rather not need that... ungh......................

I'll check that stuff out.. hopefully it does it.
Many thanks

What Una Said... If your rings are bad (or even valve seals) then pressure builds up inside the crankcase.

The exact same thing happened to Madeline before i rebuilt her.

Yes, but the PVC system should vent the pressure. I say the PCV valve is stuck or the hose is blocked.
