GA16i pistons

Hello does anybody know if they have any GA16i pistons availible and if so where can I find em? I've heard that the GA16DE pistons could be swapped in but im not positive. I found a set of 8.5:1 c/r pistons. I want to lower the c/r since the GA16i is now boosted and I am looking to crank out more boost on the motor. I am running a tiny T20 turbo, frount mount intercooler, APEXi S-AFC-II, and SDS Extra Injector Controller powering two BOSCH 50lb injectors. Now I want to boost more and try to squeeze out a bit more power. I plan on doind a P&P, valve job, and Euro-Cam swap if i can find one.

GA16i connecting rods can be purchased from your local or area Nissan / Infiniti dealership, as well as from pick-a-parts or scrapyards. DO NOT SWAP IN THE GA16DE RODS! The GA16i rods are tougher and stronger, do not go for the crappy twin cam ones. If you want to lower your compression ratio, use E16 rods.

The GA16i connecting rods are available from the dealership; they are simply the OEM connecting rods used in the GA16i engine from 1989-1990 in all B12 Sentras and most KN13 Pulsar NXs. NISMO unfortunately does not make any form of connecting rod for the GA-series of engines. As a whole, they weigh a bit more than the GA16DE connecting rods, and are much beefier. By E16 rods, I mean connecting rods as well. Any rods from any E16 (either i or s) will work with a GA-series crank. They have a shorter throw, which means a lower compression ratio. In terms of boosting an engine, they would be your best bet. NISMO did make a series of E15 connecting rods I believe.

SentraStyle,

This is very exciting news. You have a boosted a GA16i? Do you have any pics of yor setup? Did I miss a thread with your buildup?

Blownb310, yes i have a GA16i-T, currently i have no pics the car is in storage as of now about 1.5 hrs away near a shop that is going to P&P, valve job, as far as pistons and rods i am going to be picking up a set of one-off custom Wiseco pistons pushed by Crower con rods. as for a thread about my build, i haven't posted one, really except what you can find. one all of the head and bottom end work is done i will have pics of my setup with dyno links on pump and race fuel with different boost settings, i am going to have the shop taking pics of the progress of the work as they go. more info to come later but for right now im working on my 300zx while, the Pulsar gets her rest.

Very cool, good luck with the build. I have never seen a boosted GA16i. Looking forward to the future progress reports.

im super excited the work is done on my pulsar, the bottom end has been beefed, the head is ported and polished, and the Euro-Cam is installed, they company i had do all the work fired it up with me on the phone and everything sounds great, seems to be running good, the air fuel ratio is a little lean, so more time is needed to fine tune everything. but they drove the pulsar around and they said everything seems to be responding fine, except the air fuel ratio. so around late october or early november i will be making a trip out there to take pictures, run the dyno test, and update you guys, i will probably run around 10 psi (for reliablity purpose) with 93 octane, on the streets and my first dyno. then for my second dyno 118 race fuel boosting around 16+ psi, then i will throw on some slicks and find out my E.T. to all the people that said my work is stupid and pointless..... PHPPPPTTTTTTT! HAHAHA!

Cool. Thanks for the update. You mentioned using the T20. Where did you get it? Are you using the TSi kit?

I'm dying for some pics of your setup!

yes im running a TSi setup for the GA16DE basically i only used the manifold and the turbo, since piping is completely different, i used a FMIC core and a universal 2.75" intercooler piping well actually two kits, i tapped my extra injectors to the 90* pipe (which is 3"-2.75") coming off the throttle body. pics are soon to come

the time has finally come! i've been super busy and haven't had time to go see my beautiful (actually ugly, but quick) pulsar. i will be making my way out to the shop this sunday (12/2)! i've changed my mind about the daily boost settings and race settings.. the shop told me that the air/fuel ratio is now perfect and should be good to boost up to 18-20 pounds on 93 octane! so i will run around 15psi on pump fuel just to be safe. with the race fuel i will be throwing down a hefty 25-28 pounds. I am looking forward to the dyno results, and strip tests! i will run around half a tank on pump for the dyno and the rest will go towards pump ETs, and same on race fuel. i just hope my everything will hold up! wish me luck!

Good luck!.... and keep us posted. I would rather see you stick with the lower boost settings and forget about boosting a GA in the 25-28 psi range. Even 15 psi is plenty. Make it last. It's way cheaper that way and much more fun.

Pics! We need pics my friend.

this build should be good to hold 15psi easy, maybe the 25-28 on race is a bit extreme, with the 118, im sure it will hold. the 15psi will be set a daily boost setting... the car's setup isn't that broken in, so im not sure if i will be making the dyno runs this time around. for now im just going to pick it up and drive it around for a while, then hit the dyno and strip....
