I have recently replaced the fuel pump on my e16s engine and for some reason i am not getting fuel to the carburetor
i checked the lines to the fuel tank and they were clean
i took the tank off to check if the fuel pickup filter sock thingie was clean and it was very clean
tank was shiny and normal on the inside and the pickup filter sock thingie is soaked in gas when i pull the sending unit out
what could be my problem
i need this fixed soon

Did you fill the tank with fuel ?

the pump might have air in it and won't give fuel to engine unless it's filled with fuel.

So first - try to fill the tank to the top.

I'm not sure how it works on a carburetor engine, but on mine E16i (injection) I would then turn key to ON, wait to hear the pump running until it turns itself off. Then turn key to OFF for about 30s. Then again ON - hear pump - OFF... some 10 to 20 times.

i finally figured out the problem
took my tank 100% out instead of just leaning it down to look inside
i looked in the hole and there was just bare metal
not enough gas in there to pick up
which is odd because the gas light never came on
hmmmm

The gas light never came on because its not a light. Just a indacatior.
Unless your nissan is totally different than all i have seen.
