Crashed the E16 MPFI

Well if you can believe this pile of sh*t like I can then you read it right.. Let me tell you this first... That thing flew like a mother.. that EFI mod was probably the BEST THING I ever did for my car.. it had SOOOO much more torque and it reacted so much more quickly.. you wanna know how it crashed??? MY FRIEND DROVE IT!! Well.. as for right now the car is totally ruined... as is my budget... and I don't know what car I will drive... but I'm going to get the intake and the headders and and all that other crap and transfer it over.. I think I'm going to get an early 80's wagon.. SPEEDWAGON!! But this one I won't let my friend drive... he he he... we both agreed to this... This is my 3rd Nissan I've killed in 3 years... Hmmm... how about that... Oh, here's how he killed it.. I wanted to hear how it sounded so I hop out of the car and he comes flying down the hill and loses control of the little critter and crashes right into a parked Grandwagoneer ruining my front end (i.e. frame damage) and the thing starts leakin' freon into that atmosphere... take that EPA!! Oh well.. back to the drawing board.. MAN i hated for that thing to die... It hauled ass let me tell you.. to everyone who wanted to convert to an E16 MPFI.. I say do it.. BEST thing I ever did... And I'll do it again..

Can you take all the parts off the wrecked car and put it in a new car, or was the engine damaged to??

Man, that is a major bummer. I'm glad to hear you got the fuel injection running right though, last I heard, you were still having fuel problems. What was the final trick to get that solved? I'm just amazed that the GA16DE computer was inteligent enough to compensate for having two less valves per cylinder, and a much different volumetric efficiency and ran so well in your E16..
Good luck with the next Sentra.

To get the EFI to work I had to take out the bolt that restricted me from advancing the timing further and I turned it like 1 inch outside of the braket to fix the timing.. then everything picked up and it was sweet.. BTW I can transfer the computer, fuel pump etc. over so pretty much we have a small set back here... but he's agreed to buy me another car *an old sentra wagon* so it's all good... I'll keep you all updated when I complete the EFI E16 Speedwagon... ^_^ Chin up and keep goin' my friends..

Hey SuperHatch, where did you mount the knock sensor? I just rebuilt my E16i and there was a threaded hole on the back of the engine (facing the firewall) between cylinders 3 and 4. I think this is where the E15et mounts it. Did you use this spot?

I'm not clear on which injectors you used. I think somewhere you said "stock" but I wasn't sure if you meant stock E15et or stock GA16DE. Can you clarify?

I'm glad someone finally did this swap. I have been thinking about it for a long time but never got the time or money to do it. I may do it now that I have a freshly rebuilt engine with the Euro cam.

Thanks for all of your work.

gspot, have you broken in the engine yet? Did you put the cam in during the rebuild? I'd be interested to hear your impressions of the cam, did it make a noticeable difference. But if you put it in during your rebuild, it'd be one in a dozen factors that changed how your engine runs. Oh, and where'd you get the cam, and how much?

I haven't installed the engine yet. It has been too cold to work outside.

I bought the cam through NISMO and the rocker arms through a local machine shop. You must replace the rocker arms or they will ruin the new cam. I think the cam was about $120 and the rockers were about another $80.

I can't wait to see how it peps up the engine.
