carb cleaner....tried it??

Has anyone tried carb cleaners that are sold in cans?? Do they really work?? or they would do more harm than good like mess up by carb?

Thought of buying one to have my carb cleaned...

Yeah they work, only on the top portion of the carb... helps with throttle responce.. use like 1/3 of the can if its really dirty...makes it look all clean... spray too much and it will stall out...

There are several types of carb cleaner. The spray kind that mostly just cleans the grime off the outside and linkages. That's nice but usually just simply makes the carb look better. It won't make it work any better. Then there's the stuff that you pour into the gas tank, it's supposed to clean the inside of your carb. The problem is it cleans out your gas tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, etc while it's at it and that all ends up IN the carb. So I wouldn't recommend using those.
Finally, there is the solvent can that you place the pieces of the carb into after you've disassembled it for a rebuild. It works really well, but stinks like hell.
Which were you refering to?

Just bought a can of the carb cleaner...the instruction said to spray and flush the external part of the carb, and all the linkages..

Then, it says something like 'spray short bursts in to the carburetor thoart' while having the motor on.

Tried it, and the top section of the carb (the 'thoart') seems like its really clean, but I'm not sure about the inside of it. Have not disassembled it yet...

it seems to idle smoother, and finally the auto choke is working properly....
