It may only be 3-5 horses less, but the torque difference is unbelievably noticeable. I speak from experience because I made the swap last week. Damn oil burning problem in an otherwise perfectly running engine.
Anyways, take the block to a good shop, and have them sonicly test the cylinder walls and see how far they think you can safely bore it out. If you get get it to 78 or 79mm, you can finagle Subaru Justy pistons in there.. ;> 79mm would get you 1.7l out of an E16..

But blown says it's not possible. I'd go for the machine shop's oppinion.

And you know, having an '87, which is a B12, you can drop in a 16 valve GA16DE engine/tranny no problem. Grab the motor mounts out of an '89 or later B12 and it'll bolt right up.

All depends on your budget, and if your thinkin NOS and boring out, I think a GA16DE is in your budget.

Just ask your JDM engine supplier for an engine for a '94 Sentra, and a tranny for an '89..

heheh
