Cam angle sensor ca18de

I was driving along and all of a sudden no power, pulled over and the car would idle at about 400 rpm. try and give it gas and it would not rev any higher than 800 but sounded fine. it didn't try to die at full throttle but wouldn't rev higher than 800. so i figured the fuel mixture was correct, must be the ignition timing. removed the three bolts holding the cam angle sensor on and turned it advanced and the engine died. retarded it about 30 degrees from normal (this is only possible with all the bolt all the way out) and voila it runs fine. I think the cam angle sensor is screwed up inside. anyone have this happen?, anyone have one that i can buy.

i would definitley check timing belt, sounds like the tensioner could've slacked off, and the belt is slipping.. if you check out The Nissan EXA / NX Club - since 1997 they have a digital format of the haynes manual for you to download, its under the n13 forumns.. hope that helps

it was the CAS. the shaft was broken. replaced it works great.
