e16s to e15et

got a little project on my hands. my teacher can get me a core engine for probably less than $100, and i'd like to drop it into my 1986 CANADIAN NISSAN PULSAR NX. so, its either get an e16s, make some headers, port the crap out of everything, modify the manifold, etc, or get an e15et and get the same thing.

how hard would it be to put an e15et inside something that was designed for an e16s. i'm guessing the whole car would have to be rewired (because it has an ecu and I don't) plus dashboard with the boost gauge, maybe engine mounts, would it work?

I don't know if being Canadian makes any difference but my 85 NX E16s has an ECU. It's under the driver seat. I looked into doing a e16s to E15et swap a while back. I read that you had to replace the gas tank/fuel pump as well. I swear I remember reading that you would need something from a GA engine too but I don't remember why.

Oh by the way I think you'd want to wire up your own boost gauge since the stock one on the turbo Pulsar dash was considered worthless anyway. As for engine mounts I believe the E15 bolts right in. If you have an automatic then I'm guessing you're switching to the 5 speed manual so there's that to replace too.

The differences between the canadian pulsars and the other non-canadian ones were discussed in this topic and many before that:

no worries, just pointing out the canadian has no o2 sensor, but has a mechanical distributor, no ecu or solenoid in the carb whatsoever. really a basic design.

well yeah, especially if i'm gonna run more boost than the gauge can handle. probably will switch to the manual, but may keep the automatic for the time being
