Cooling problem???

ok guys I don't know what the problem is but my ENG bay and ENG get really hot but my temp guage dosn't go highter then half way and then fan comes on, I know that this good but the ENG gets so hot that I can't even get my hand close to it and I have rough hands. I have a haynes manual and I think it might be my water pump. #1. with the car running I squeezed the bottom rad hose and theres no pressure well for what I can feel. #2. the bottom rad hose stays hot all the time. #3. with the car off I squeezed the same rad hose and I can hear the breather on the thermostat click. if anyone can help me out it would be appreciated. Thanx

P.S. I have changed my rad out because when I bought my car there was a BIG hole in the rad. could this be for not refilling the rad right??

Do the fans cut back off after a few miutes?? If the fans cycle on and off then sounds like everthing is ok.
Side note; One time we put a temp probe thru the firewall into the engine compartment of a 300zx turbo and drove it around-The temp got up too 450 deg. in there but there car wasnt overheating.
Good luck!

with the engine warm and off remove the rad cap and start the engine let it run till the fans come on may be awhile slowly add water till it is full this will burp the car of all air my E16 like to trap air I have to do this about once a month due to a slow leak. Also have the heater on so the core is purged you may add about 3/4 gallon to system. and keep the resivour full
