Well, I took some weekends, pulled a pair of brake calipers, brackets, and rotors form my local pick n pull (AD18VB?), and installed them in my sentra. I thought it would be an easy swap, but now I have lost hard braking power. Today after work, I'll be looking at my brakes again, but I just wanted a little input.
My brakes are squishy. I can't even lock my brakes no matter how hard I push the brake pedal. I bled the front brakes, but I think I may still have air in there somwhere. The rotors Also had some rust from sitting in the JY for a bit. I don't know, maybe that would caust the pads to lose friction. Or do I have to install the brake master cylinder from a stanza to get back that locking feeling (pulling that out of the JY Stanza was a biatch)?
Dude: New rotors are cheap. Just get some new ones...
And I'd re-bleed that master cylinder again, then reconnect the lines and rebleed the system. See what you get...I'm in process of getting my adaptor plates plasma-cut, and I'm doing the same to my '87 Pulsar. Got everything needed. Best of luck!

I agree with recycled_toddler. New pads and rotors would be a good idea. Also, like he said, you may just have to bleed the master cylinder out. This happened to me quite a few times already. Maybe the fluid in the reservoir got real low; almost empty when you were bleeding out the brakes??? That can let a slight amount of air into the master cylinder and cause the brakes to be squishy no matter how many times you bleed the brakes out. Bleeding out the master cylinder is often overlooked by almost everybody. Get a one man brake bleeder kit from a car parts store and you should be able to do it. No need to take the master cylinder out of the car, unless you're worried about spilling brake fluid on the car and destroying the paint (yeah, that's happened to me too). I think it's easier with a one man brake bleeder kit and leaving it in the car, but however you'd do it is up to you. Don't forget; after you bleed out all the lines on the master cylinder, bleed ALL of the brakes again, and DON'T LET THE FLUID GET LOW!!! Check it constantly. I hope this solves your problem. Good luck!!!
Aww, hell, I wish rotors were cheap. I went to Kragen and ordered a rotor (they didn't have any in the local area). Damn thing cost 49.99.
I rebled the brake system, and I noticed a definite increase in grip. I gues I should have done the Master Cylinder swap at the same time. Cool beans, thanks.

Huh? I can get them here new for $15-20 each...non-vented, of course. Man, that's why I don't go to Checker/Schuck's/Kragen: They'll barrel ya and ream ya and leave ya sayin' "What? No kiss???" I'd go AutoZone or someone else...CSK blows.

You do not need the master cylinder unless you go rear disc brakes might want the brake booster off the stanza it will give you more brake preasure. At this point I would highly recomend a complete brake bleed I would adjust the rears and bleed the rear for G/P.

CSK is not a bad place to get parts you are getting a qoute for non SE brakes I just looked it up on line and here is the link for 20.00+ rotors 89 pulsar SE vented, you can do three things find them in a store near you price match if you find a cheaper price form another store or you can print the page and the store has to honor the price. So do not bad talk a place unless you have all the info.
here is a link to rotors for my 87 sentra non vented and they range from 15.00 - 50.00+ so just relax most of the parts that shucks sells you can go and pay more for form Napa or autozone and I have never had much of a problem warenting parts even if I fucked it up.
If you like to squirrel parts away for a later day like me, keep your eye on Ebay. Brake parts for these cars are plentiful and cheap. I bought a brand new set of Brembo vented rotors for my upgrade for like $32 shipped to my door.
I also recently got a new set of Wagner rear drums for $25 + shipping.

The problem I'm having is the fact that CSK doesn't have the part in stock. This causes the price to double from 25 to 50 bones. I even tried pep boys (hey now don't hate, they carried the fog lamp connectors I was looking for - interesting note, did you know the Pathfinder fogs are the same as the B13 SER fogs?), and the rotor, if in stock was only 19.99. Since it was out of stock, it would cost 49.99 to special order it.

OK, I suppose this merits a small essay on my behalf, so, in the tradition of "What I did for my summer vacation", the latest RT production:
Why I Don't Shop At CSK Stores Anymore.
(1) 75 percent of the time, they give me the wrong part and swear it's the right one and that I'm dreaming it up...until I show them both the part and my car and their mutual lack of ability to interface correctly in real-time;
(2) Their remanufactured parts are total garbage and are, by and large, catalogued incorrectly (As I have had with every starter, alternator and other accessory I've purchased from them...which is why I go to AutoZone, NAPA or CarQuest, depending on how much I have left of my disability after bills);
(3) Half of the staff have no clue as to how to accomplish the need...and that includes management!
(4) Their "We'll beat any price, guaranteed!" is a big pipe-dream when you consider that their competition's parts (Which have always been far superior) are 25-50% less, consistently, and FINALLY:
(5) That 'Beat Any Price" and "Free Lifetime Warranty" policy and mentality is completely useless when you keep having to R&R that goddamn crappy part because it's crap to begin with! Seriously...how much is your time worth, especially when you're a slave to the same crappy part?
That's why I say what I say, know what I know and do what I do: Because I cannot afford to 'think outside a box'. The 'box' has a solid, well-established reason for being there: Too much lost time, too many skinned knuckles, too many wrenches tossed across the shop in frustration...all because the CSK people don't know how to do it right.
If I offend you, that's your decision; I'm not responsible for how you react. My knowledge and wisdom is too hard-won to assent to the propaganda-spawned conjecture and biased opinionations I often see here. You believe and do what you feel; I'll stay away from CSK, and both my car and I will be happier down that long, hard road.
The End.
