Question Newbie to drifting

I'n not a total newbie I know some techniques, but I just got a used 1996 240sx w/ 78,000 Miles. I don't think I can just go out and start drifting, shouldnt I upgrade my suspension and bushing?(Recommendations) I'm thinking on getting Konig Imagine's(17's) and for tires Yokohama Parada spec 2's. Any info will help.

well if u just wanna drift and got money get cusco suspension (bout $1000) and get shitty rear tires ... now if u wanna daily drive just simply dropping your car will make it aloooot easier to drift, cuz at stock height its a bitch... so it all depends on wut u wanna do ... on my old 240 i just dropped it on some shitty coilovers and regular 195/40/15 tires and i was having alot of fun! ... but my boy dropped cusco suspension on his and shitty tires (cuz the camber and drifting eats ur tires) and he was gettin alot more fun outta his car... hope it makes sense

try this

you should start by getting some Nice coil-overs(TEIN)and all new bushings, along with tie bars and what not.

Umm if you are just getting into drifting and still in the beginner stages I don't recommend going out and spending 2000 dollars on coilovers. Learn on an all stock car first, so when you bust something you're not paying a large amount to fix it. Or instead of replacing parts, just upgrade them : ). I was able to drift perfectly fine with my stock KA24DE and stock suspension. The only thing you really need of course is a VLSD or an LSD, I've had both a Infiniti J35 VLSD and a Kaaz 2 way LSD on my car. Granted the Kaaz performed way better then my VLSD, the VLSD still has no problem making sure both tires spin. I picked up my VLSD for 325 bucks.

agreed, i started on my bone stock miata, but still i would recommend that u lower ur car and use ur stock wheels with a "not so wide" tire that u can pound on. i used winter tires cuz they smoke up aight..
next if u got som lute buy som sway bars and adjustable end links (cost me only like $300 for bars, links and bushings) then LSD, then car on a diet to loose som weight, then Brakes etc etc...
