OK,
Not too shabby for a south florida event. Very hot. Not that many people, and the drift course had only 2 or maybe 3 depending, turns in it. Contestants went down one way, then back again the opposite direction.
It was very very hot. Only a handful of vendors, some nice cars on display though. It was really hot.
As for the people, I don't know if people are getting stupider, or that drifting attracts non-car people but the entire audience has no clue about car parts or car control. Just cosmetics. Body kits, and engine bolt ons, they know what they look like, and where they go, but not what they do.
Every peanut gallery comment on a drifters style or technique or mistake had nothing to do with car control or knowledge about vehicle dynamics. And the drifters who contested and walked around didn't answer much in terms of what went wrong. It was like the blind leading the blind. I kept my mouth shut because I don't drift and that automatically removes me from the conversation as per car knowledge for some reason. Like the people dissing the guys in the 240's with the KA engine and not the SR like that's a bad thing. The its a low speed course and the KA has more lowdown torque so the KA has the advantage not the SR which when modded is peaky. So I just sighed and moved on.
Still, it was nice to see that many cars drifting.
Apparently there are alot of 240's floating around.
Its a shame they are all kept in such crappy condition.
I have tons of pics and a few videos, and I can host them, just it will take time to get them up.
i was there! oh my god that 535 beamer ripped it up! it was pretty damn cool that that many drifters got on that course. the people who dont know about drifting need to chill out, they act like its all easy and they could do it better.. that got on my nerves hard.
i saw a couple of ka powered s13's and i was suprised to see them do very well actually as the day progressed. if there is anyone from the homestead/kendall area that went im sorry i missed you guys we should have met up and gone ina group.
Thanks. I couldn't get over the spectator fence to the main protection fence like the rest of the press that way I could not have chain link as the bulk of the pictures.
I went also. That yellow s14 was a nut he had some sick drifts.
Did you go on sat ? Thats when i went and i dont see any pics of the hottest cars there. That falken s14 was the best out there by far. And there was a red and silver 180 , white s13 silvia and an falken s13 silvia.
There was deffinately a lack of spectators. I was surprised. I dont think they
advertised very well. I didnt even know about it until a week before it happened and that was because someone who was going to compete told me about it.
Nah, I went on Sunday from 12-3. I roasted, seriously.
I have more pics and vids, also of the little display they had going on, but to put up 40 pictures and 15 vids is a bit much.
The best they had while i was there was a white bmw, a green and yellow old 240, the yellow 240, and a maroon older 240.
I liked the guy in the corolla who kept spinning and the guy in the g35 who was too afraid to go real fast. PLus the guy in the m3 who had waay too much tire and no guts to 'drive it like he stole it'. It was difficult because it was slightly uphill and short so it takes alot of power and alot of sawing at the wheel to break free and unless you went nutz and risked hitting the tires you wouldn't drift, or you would spin, and that's what happened to most people.
