Question S13 Drift Setup?

Hey folks,

I was just wondering what a good drift setup would be for my 240sx hatch. I was looking at dropping in an SR20DET (and modding exhaust, etc. for the new engine), getting TEIN SuperStreet coilovers, and getting 17" rims with low profile tires for a basic setup.

One of my big issues at the moment are the rims and tire combo. I'd like to get the best performance out of my dollar since I'm on a budget, and I was looking at getting 5Zigen FN-01RC rims with Kumho 712 tires. The thing is, I'm not sure whether to run a staggered setup with 205/45s on 17x7" in front and 235/45s on 17x8" in the rear or to run a straight 17x7" setup all around.

I've heard mixed things where a staggered setup will be the best drift setup, providing traction for the higher HP/torque of the SR20, and would fill the wheelwells a bit better. Another person told me that having the wider tires in the rear will promote understeer in the front tires, as opposed to the desired oversteer.

1) Any thoughts on the staggered vs consistent rim setup?
2) Are there any other tire names I should look at?
3) Any other coilover systems I should consider?
4) Is the SR20DET a better choice than the RB25DET for drift because of its lighter weight?

Thanks,

Jay

My imput= RB25 gonna give you more weight cuz the 240 i believe has a 47/53 weight distrubution so that will make it even on the front with the more weight for the tires you could look at Yokohama and Advan Rims or Volks or even VERTEX but id go with some yokohama tires idk your budget but you can look into JIC or HKS or BLITZ for coilover systems if you lookin for streetability then you might want to get a fully adjustable and id get sum frame supports if i were you!

i say start with the stock engine and work your way up. less power will give you easier control. as far as coilover - JIC makes some of the best available in the States. definately get adjustables. tires - dont forget Falken or Bridgestones. a lot of pros use each of those. stick with regular passenger car tires to start with tho. rims- dont bother with. they will get scraped up very quickly by drifting. stick with some stock rims or steelies to drift with. or you can get some mesh wheels off of ebay for a hundred or two. engine- like i said, stick with stock. less power yields more control. once you get good, upgrade the power a little, then get used to that. then you can upgrade some more if you decided to do so. just make sure you can control what you have before getting more power. and stay off the streets.
