I'm damn hyped and will be posting pictures sunday afternoon.

My alarm went off at 7am sunday morning and i was trying to find any excuse i could to stay in my nice warm "tempurpedic" bed. I was blessed with a pretty wicked hangover that was accompanied by an excruciating headache. Something willed me to get out of bed and make the 45 minute treck up the beltway to fedex field though and i'm damn glad i went.
I pulled up to the parking lot and saw 3 separate autocross courses with a myriad of Lexus vehicles flying around them at full speed. This was the point where i started waking up.
I planted myself behind the wheel of 1 of the 20 existing models of the brand new IS350's and took off slowly. I accelerated through a long straightaway before slamming on the brakes for a sharp left turn that lead into a right sweeper. Another medium straightaway led into a 90 degree right turn and led out into a short straight followed by the "avoidance manuver" portion. By now i was wide awake and i had a huge smile on my face. The course ended with the slalom section and i was brought back to civilized speeds.
The IS350 was awesome. Until sunday i'd never driven a car with the option of "paddle shifting". I actually struggled to get the hang of it and gave up after a while. I found that the automatic transmission did a better than adequate job of keeping me in the right gear and always revving high. The Rear wheel drive of the 350 and the well tuned handling gave this car a very good turn in for a 4 door sedan. I almost felt like it knew where i was going before i got there.
I drove the is250 twice. The first time i went at about 70% to get comfortable w/ the AWD handling, and the second time i really pushed it. The AWD gave the car great stability and grip, but it had a tendency to understeer pretty badly. I have to say though the slalom was great fun. I was able to maintain a fairly speedy 4 wheel drift through all the cones.
I much prefer the predictability and power of the 350 over the AWD of the 250. They were both great fun at speed, and absolute luxury perfection for those that want to get from point A to B in style.
The entire event was very "highbrow" and catered with all kinds of exotic looking foods. My fiance, who was initially complaining about going to "another car thing" was pacified by a free massage. I was thankful for that opportunity to sneak off to the ESPN section of the event where i was schooled on my Golf swing and my short game.
We only planned to spend 30 minutes at the event and ended up there for almost 4 hours. My fiance didnt complain about anything. She wanted to stay longer. The best part of this event was that it was all free. They even gave me a Paul McCartney Cd and a reasturant guide in an "attractive leather casing" just for attending. I dont know if all that will make me buy a Lexus, but it was good for the hangover.
I would have more pictures but my camera battery conveniently died 30 minutes into the event.
