G35 6-MTs 298 hp for 05

We talked a little at the DNE BBQ about the comparison of a 6th gen to a G35 Sedan. Infiniti just made the press release on the final specs on the 05'. The auto sedans now have the same power as the auto coupes at 280 hp. Both the 6MT Coupes and Sedans move up to 298 hp (a 38 hp improvement for the sedan). The G35 Sedan also gets the intelligent key system from the FX, larger sway bars, larger brakes and larger wheels and tires (18x7.5" w/235/45-18's). Keep in mind also that G35 sedans actually weigh less than coupes, making the G35 sedan the gem of the lineup. In fact, since the only upgrades the 350Z gets for 05' are a lower effort clutch pedal and yellow paint with no power increase, the G35 sedan will have the best power to weight in Nissan corporate's lineup. This makes me wonder how Nissan is expecting to sell the Maxima against the G35 at the same price range? Better features, better handling, more power, RWD, longer warranty and Infiniti versus Nissan warranty. Which would you buy?

Ehh, kind of. It's a toss-up for me. I like both the sedan and the coupe. The coupe is dead-sexy, but at the same time (having owned sedans and a coupe) I think this power boost makes the sedan much more attractive. For pimpability - the coupe wins, hands down. For usability the coupe wins (for me anyway). It's larger, more comfortable, and now more powerful. It's just not as sleek.

The coupe wins both times? I would go with the sedan, since I like to be able to take more than one person in my car. And since I'm a big guy... bigger cars are always nice.

Duhh, my brain isn't working yet. I meant the sedan wins hands down. Too bad you can't get AWD with the 6 speed. Then there wouldn't be any question at all.

You know what I own. I just think it is funny that the top dog Z is outpowered by the family sedan. Z owners have to be pissed. It is kind of like if they lowered the weight of the CTS V and gave it more power than a Z06.

How come the Sedan with 4 doors, weighs LESS than a coupe with 2 doors?
