Autocross event at Mineral Wells (for DNE only)

Date is open, I'm just charting interest for such an event. In case you didn't read the thread about red cross and auto cross, I'm putting up a vote here.

The fee is $50 per driver but keep in mind this is a whole day event with just DNE drivers so you would be getting much more time behind the wheel than at the SCCA events where majority of the day is spent waiting and working.

Also, you need to be committed to actually going. We don't want to hit 7 people and then have 1 person back out and screw it all up. We might want to also let some other people not in DNE know about it. If we get 10-15 people at an all day event we will get some SERIOUS track time in.

edit: the beginning/middle of january might be good cuz it gives everyone plenty of time to do the holiday thing and then come back for a good day of racing.

would there be any restrictions as to experience/age?
i'm 17 and have been to a few auto-x's but have never done any runs. i'd like to learn, but i understand if you'd like this to be open to more experience people.

I would have to check but I don't think that would be a problem. It's going to be limited number of cars so we won't have a safety issues like on crowded events.

You must bring a DOT approved helmet with you. If you don't have one, I'm sure someone will let you borrow one.

I don't think we are limiting this to DNE people to ensure we get enough participation. I would say everyone is welcome. I think we have enough interest for the event as I know a few who said they would be coming. I will ask for a date later today so everyone please let me know when would be the best or worst time for you.

Is the place in Mineral Wells a cone setup or an actual track?

Excellent. Will the price drop if more people sign up?

Keep in mind too, while there may not be many (if any) restrictions on the cars, if you are under 18 and can't legally represent yourself you might have to get your parents to sign a release so the property owner isn't liable for you fucking yourself or your car up. FYI.

Cones so it won't be as fun as a real track but on the positive side it allows some highspeed straights/curves unlike most parking lot setups. It's an old airfield.

You would need to sign a waiver before you could drive so that probably would make it 18 and up unless your parents can come with you.

I thought SCCA events were always cone courses, because that's how they keep it fair---they change the course every time.

Is the Mineral Wells course still on the old runway? That used to suck ass with that loose-pebble pavement.

Enjoy your rock chips!!!! LOL
