Srt- 4

I was at McNatt Toyota/Dodge last Saturday getting some
warranty work done on the Matrix, when I heard the
distinctive sound of a sweet exhaust note pierce the usual
b.s. one hears on a salesfloor. I peaked around the
corner and noticed one of the salesguys pull a brand spankin' new silver SRT - 4 onto the salesroom floor. Needless to say, I quicked stepped over to it to check it out. Pretty stock looking neon interior with the exception of a tiny boost gauge mounted in the dashboard and a pretty tall gear stick which surprised me.

It's a lot better looking car in person than it is in pics (exterior).
As everyone knows the sticker read $19,995 on the
drivers window but when I went to the front to check it
out, there was a sticker on the winshield that said, "market
adjustment = $3,000." Total price of car was $22,995.
Sorry Dodge, it may be a bat outta hell, but there's no
escaping it's still a neon...I just walked away and smiled.

Too bad it's only available in front wheel drive too. WRX-Sti and Evo have it beat.

Oh, most def, but everyones been talking about how
Dodge has raised the bar by making a 13 sec car for
$20k. Now, if only Nissan had a 13 sec car (that's sold
in America) for $20k...

I've never seen any of the new SRT-4's run, but there was a guy out an Ennis a while back that had the noisiest and most nasty sounding exhaust with basically EVERYTHING pulled out (door panels, chairs, etc) and he was only running low 14's. Maybe they upgraded something, but I was not impressed. And yes... it is still a neon...

If I was young, dumb and full of .....
...
....
sh*t. I might buy one. Those things are gonna be hella fast. I admit it is cheap and it will always be a neon, but it is one that we all ought to get used to looking at the rear of.

Here is what amuses me - many seem to only look at the speed of the vehicle - to me - there are many other things to consider, such as comfort, styling, heritage, and overall looks. Yes, the srt is fast, but dayum it's fuggin ugly. The interior looks like a neon - I guess because it is a neon? - hmmm...

From a marketing perspective, I can see many "youngsters" picking this ride up - you know 2 fast and 2 furious - playing speedracer. Afterall, you are getting one fast ride for 22k.

Personally, there is just something about 4 door sports cars - see how that just sounds worng? - that I cannot agree with....but this is just my point of view....

I'd watch it there buddy... you could step on a few toes on that call!

There are a couple 4 door grocery getters around here that could give you a real quick look at their rear end....

EDIT: Four Door Sports Cars That car look familiar?

The SRT-4 is already running at like 14 lbs of bost, maybe more, stock. and the turbo is welded to the manifold, so to upgrade, you have to pull the whole thing. and it is still a neon, so that means all the problems regular neons have, only sooner cause most of the people will be ragging on them wearing them out faster.

So true. I guess that's why MOPAR already has Stage I & II
upgrades for it already. Check this out:
