Dallas Tail Mod

Hey guys, I'm a newbie to D.N.E. I dig the taillights on the Max's. I have a black '96 Max SE with altezza's in the rear. I was wodering if anyone knows how to take these things apart? I was thinking about a modified Dallas Tail Mod. I'd apreciate any info.

well, you can't just take yours apart for the outers, you need to go find some david l clears, or the plain outer clears, and we can go from there. Only the 97-99's can be taken apart for the inners and outers.

My plan is to take the clear covers off and change the inner face from chrome to black. Gotta match...all black. But I don't want to damage the clear lenses. If I have to get the all clear tails I will.

err yeah i misunderstood that you wanted to paint the altezzas... but yeah, you do it the same way, heat it up, pull em apart. As far as paint goes.... just cover up the lights themselves, and paint it whatever u please.

I'm not sure how to heat them up and pull them apart. I want to be careful as I only have three of the stock taillights. I want to do it right. I'm shaving the emblems off today.

put it in the oven and warm them up... then use a heat gun to heat up the outer edges evenly, oh btw, pull off the little screws on their beforehand... and after it's all warm and gooey, just pull the lense apart slowly, be patient.

Hey!

Just give darrick or me a call and we'll come over and take them apart for you if you are worried about hurting them.

We've taken apart a couple tailights.....

Chris

Yeah, I got Darrick's number off his card. I met him on 635 a while back and heard about DNE from him. He's definitely got one of the best 4th gens I've seen.
