Weird problem continuing....

As a quick side note... this is the first trouble shooting thread! yay! Sadly it's for my car

Anways, a couple of you already know that on Friday I was pulling out of a parking lot and my car began to studder, then my oil light started blinking, so I shut off the car immediatly as I rolled back into the parking lot. After many phone calls and checking my levels, I was fine. I started up the car and went on my way.

On my way home last night from a nearby pool hall, the car began the same studder. They were very quick and there weren't very makes shakes, but they were definitly noticeable. If you've ever driven a car too far without putting gas in it, the studder feels like that. And to answer your next question, yes I had gas. I was a bit low, but not near low enough to be studdering like that. For you maxima guys, could it be my knock sensor? I am also thinking it may be my fuel injectors..?

thanks for the help in advance,
Chris

I dont know exactly why they go out. But ive read on alot of other forums that MAFs go out due to intake sometimes. Might want to search on maxima.org about it.

Makes sense, but the few cars that i've unplugged the MAF plug from have just died, including a 95 240. So honestly I think the car wouldn't even be running if the MAF was bad. Plus I don't think i've ever read a thread about the MAF dying.....

I'll check it out though.

Thanks

ya know... you may be on to somethin but not realize it.

I've had a CEL on for about a month or so now because one of my O2 sensors' wires snapped and so i'm getting a code for a bad O2 sensor. On top of that, whenever Maxima's have a CEL, they run in what I like to call "Stupid Mode" in which they run rich. It could be possible that because it has been running rich for an extended period of time could have caused a slight problem. If I get the chance, I'll check my codes tonight and see if I get anything else besides the O2 sensor.

Sounds like something in the fuel delivery system.
I'd say Fuel Pump.
Perhaps just a bad fuel filter though...

I just got off the phone with Darrick and he had a similar opinion. I personally doubt the Fuel Pump because it only does it when I'm low on gas. Now so that you guys don't think I'm a complete idiot, yes the car does have gas, just close to E.

I replaced the fuel filter three weeks ago, so that knocks out that option. Darrick was thinkin that maybe I just got some fairly bad gas and the shit has built up in the gas tank, and now my engine is pulling up that crap. I'm going to go with you and darrick and assume something in the fuel system, but i'm not 100% sure.

thanks

I don't always run Techron like I should but I'm ALL over Dallas/Richardson/Plano/Allen/Garland, so I get a couple different stations.

There is a Mobil near the house I go to, I like the Sams near my mother's house, the Chevron near Rytone777's house, Conoco near work, and a couple others.

I need to get some bottled B12 and shove that into my gas tank.

That b12 stuff works great. I used to work at Auto Zone and that stuff sold out all the time.

If it only does it when you're close to "E"
I still think it could be the pump.
Not getting enough pressure to drive the
fuel through the lines...
