Here how to clear them....

1) Sit in the driver's seat.
2) Turn the ignition key to the ON position and wait three seconds. (Do not start the car.)
3) Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal five times in less than five seconds.
4) Wait exactly seven seconds. Fully depress the accelerator pedal for ten seconds until the MIL (SES) light flashes.
5) Release the accelerator pedal and start counting flashes to obtain the four-digit trouble code.

Long flashes (0.6 seconds) indicate the first digit of the code; count the blinks one through nine and write down the first digit. (Ten blinks indicates a zero.)
The next three digits follow in turn in the same fashion except with faster blinks (0.3 second) and a 1.0-second pause between digits.

The ECM code repeats intself until you turn the ignition key to the OFF position, at which point the ECM resets itself to standard get-in-and-drive-the-car mode.
You can look up the trouble codes in the ESM/FSM; there's a bunch of them. In the ESM, refer to page EC-639.
Additionally, if you get four blinks of ten (0000), the ECM is indicating no malfunction.

You can clear the code (and the annoying MIL) by holding down the accelerator pedal for more than 10 seconds while in Diagnostic Test Mode II. When you release the pedal, the ECM erases the trouble code(s).

the crankshaft position sensor is sometimes defective and is a recall.

If you have problems getting the codes to blink off try holding the pedal for 9 seconds instead of 7. I've found it worked sooner for me sometimes.

Is the second 02 sensor hooked up?

yes i have not tried it yet will when i get home, but yea both are hooked up. i have a megan racing header and i put the stock one back on to get it inspected. i think when i was trying to get the o2 off the stock header to put it on the megan i must have messed it up. will the ghetto sim or the casper sim fix this problem of the check engine light with the megan header.
thanks for the help guys

As long as you have the cat underneath (mid-pipe) you should be fine for visual inspection. I don't know about the sim but if no one tells you I bet a search in the qr25de section or b15.net will tell you.

If you dropped the 02 sensor you could have damaged the crystal element inside that creates the voltage.

It Should but if there is a problem, it will eventually come back on. There was a recall on it back in the day like Robert said, do you ever experience a long crank to start up?

If its anything like the Max, you'll have to drive around for a while so the ecu can diagnose everything. I know I had a problem doing that. When I cleared it and had it imediately inspected it couldnt pass because the ecu said 'Not Ready".

It will be that way until you fix the problem. Clearing codes without fixxing it just temporarily gets rid of that check engine light. It'll come back on unless you do. Get you a new O2 sensor from oxygensensors.com and a CPS from Courtesy or something. If you need help changing them I'm sure any of the guys here would be willing to help out.

you should be able to get it inspected with or without any cats on the car as long as your check engine lights not on, clear the code at the inspection place right before they start.
