I have my old head unit from the Maxima.
I want to put it back in the Maxima so I can sell it.
But it requires sodering because when guys at CarToys took it out, they cut the wires.
I am willing to pay cash for someone to get this done for me.
Let me know if youre interested and how much cash you want for the job.
I am willing to travel to your location.
Thanks,
Alex.
I have an adjustable temperature soldering iron and solder, and I can solder the wires back, but I don't have a heat shrink gun. I haven't soldered in awhile so I am abit rusty, keep that in mind.
I know you can heat shrink by tapping the tubing with the iron, but I have never tried that.
Regretfully I do not have the Nissan Maxima's manual, Zeroyon does not have it, and I have no idea how much is a fair price since I haven't done soldering for pay before.
I got the soldering iron to put together a robot
(Which has been put aside like so many other projects, damn!)
I took pics of what I need.
Its a power plug and I wonder if I can buy one at the dealership... hmm.
Cuz if I can, I can probably rig it somehow myself.
First I don't understand why you are looking at buying more plugs. It will still have to be wired in. If the old plugs are fine, re-use them. For this piece of work, a factory service manual should not be necessary. If you look at the wires, they are all color coded. All you need to do to figure out the wiring is match back up the colors. Pulling the head unit out is easy. You will find when you looking at the wiring Cartoys did that they most likely soldered to the original wires. This means you need to either cut them or peel the tape/shrink wrap off to de-solder the connections.
If you don't have a shrink wrap gun, try a hair dryer a cigarette lighter (old electrician trick). Harbor Freight sells heat shrink guns pretty cheap. You can get pre-cut heat shrink at Fry's or Radio Shack. Use a thin roslin core solder so you can save some time not having to tin the wire ends. Twist the ends together and solder with a medium tip around the twist for the best connections. The solder should only hold the wires together, not make the connnection. It should only take about a half an hour to re-wire this, so tht to estimate cost. Sorry, I won't quote you on this one since my labor will probably be higher than Cartoys.

If Cartoys put in the aftermarket radio. They probably used a adapter plug and did not cut the factory harness and you just have to unplug one radio and plug in another.
If not call me Alex and I will explain.

did either of you guys see the pictures I posted above?
The wires are cut and they used to have the power plug on them I believe..
That power plug would plug in to the car's power harness in the console so the headunit would power on.
As you can see I need either a new power harness to hook up to those cut wires on the headunit or have to figure out a way to soder those wires to the harness in the console..
Am I confusing ?
If they cut off your power plug and didn't give it back to you with the old head unit, I would make them give you a new plug. Normally if they cut the harnesses, they leave the old plugs on your old head unit.

Yeah, I see it, I had to do something similar with my Clarion in my 240SX. The colors almost NEVER match up between the aftermarket stereo and the car. For me I had a pig tail and where there were cut wires in the back and a plug that went straight into the Clarion. I had to cut out the old plug which was about as incompatable with my new system as possible (from Kenwood cassette deck to Clarion mp3 CD player) and solder them into the pig tail.
However, you are in good shape since you are putting the stock back in. As Loren said, the wire colors should match up since you are going from car to stock system. Now on those pictures for, "jvc_cut#.jpg", is that the original stereo or the aftermarket one?
