Cliff Notes:
Ennis is finally regrinding the track for the first time since opening 20 years ago. If you race out there the chances of getting a faster time than previous times are increased.

Track Grinding Underway at Texas Motorplex
2005-08-01
(Ennis, TX) --- With the goal of more top speeds and low elapsed time records, the Texas Motorplex has started to resurface the world famous, record setting all concrete quarter mile race track in Ennis. With the NHRA O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec coming September 22-25, 2005, it will mark the 20th anniversary of the first national event to be contested at the Texas Motorplex. The all concrete quarter mile track will be ground from the starting line area to the finish line in preparation for the biggest drag racing event in the state. Work on the project is underway and the grind team is making good progress. This will be the first time the Texas Motorplex racing surface has had any repairs done to it.
"When Billy Meyer decided to make the racing surface all-concrete he knew what he was doing. The track has held up extremely well for being 20 years old," said General Manager Arthur O'Bright. "We look forward to the events left on this year's schedule because they will have the smoothest and fastest all concrete quarter mile in the county to race on."
Several teams are highly pleased to hear that the Texas Motorplex is smoothing the all concrete quarter mile launch pad so they can rocket their cars to new national records.

funny I was just about to make the same thread. Yeah they cleaned off 20 years of rubber. Consecutive time racers among others are going to see better times then before. Ennis is one of the only true concrete tracks in the nation, which makes it one of the best. Plus freee nitrous tonight. I'm there!
