Wheel cleaner damage

Anybody gotten their wheels damaged or discolored by any of those "no scrubbing" sprays? I sprayed a small piece of my wheel and some fell on the chrome lip and it got a little discolored. Any tips on how to get it close to normal again?

I've not had any problems...what kind of cleaner did you use?

A lot of cleaners don't work for chrome or painted wheels and many will have a big warning on it. Some have acid in them too which can cause damage. I've been sticking lately to just waxing my wheels every few months and just washing with soap and water because I don't trust the sprays.

I'd try a professional grade chrome polish, cleaner, and restorer. Thats all I can think of, hopefully its just a stain and not a deeper problem.

I can't remember the name off hand. I'll post when I get home.

Anyway, I did a little research and this stuff is really bad for chrome polished lips. Still haven't figured out how to remove the spots or if its possilbe to do so.

Yeah, I'm going to stick to soap and water from now on. The only reason I bought it is so I could spray the inside of the rim since it's hard to clean by hand.

I read of people removing chrome stains on their tailpipes and such with chrome cleaners but those are a different type of stain usually.

I've found for the inside parts of the wheel having a wheel wax coating makes the gunk easier to wash off. I was even able to wash nearly a year of tar and other crap off when i put them away for the winter last year.

there was this wheel cleaner that left some nice orang streaks on my old white rims.
