200sx spoiler for 4dr 96 sentra

Went to the junk yard, and bought a spoiler for $75.00. I had a choice, taking the spoiler from what looks like a 97 200sx, and a newer 200sx, the year i don't know. I noticed that the light section on the spoiler looks a little different. The newer one was thinner, while the older style a little thicker. The trunk lid looks the same,...my question is, can someone give me some advice on mounting it, drilling the holes etc...

Thanks

Measure 500 times before you make the first hole. I suggest that you tape off the area you'll be drilling in to help prevent paint cracks, especially if your paint is old or a cheap respray. Use a centerpunch, and start with a small bit. Then, using a Unibit, open up the holes as large as you need. Use very light pressure, and go slow.

Then, when you're done, clean up the edges of the hole with a wire brush, and use touchup paint on the inside of the hole to prevent rusting.

I used a wood drill bit because I didnt have any metal bits large enough to make the hole the size I needed. You may have to also drill away some of the skeleton of the inside of the car. What I did was I put some white paint on the screws on the spoiler, had my friend line it up on the car while I walked around and inspected, then had him push the spoiler down to put the white paint onto my trunk. After that I just drilled exactly where the paint dots were. Use LOTS of sealant so your trunk doesn;t leak and get an anti-rusting compound for the area you drilled. Primer spraypaint should work fine. Good luck.
