Measure 500 times before you make the first hole. I suggest that you tape off the area you'll be drilling in to help prevent paint cracks, especially if your paint is old or a cheap respray. Use a centerpunch, and start with a small bit. Then, using a Unibit, open up the holes as large as you need. Use very light pressure, and go slow.
Then, when you're done, clean up the edges of the hole with a wire brush, and use touchup paint on the inside of the hole to prevent rusting.
