Painting bar between taillights

I wanted to paint the bar between my taillights but I have never painted anything on that level and want to know the correct steps to get it to match my paint and not look crappy. Thanks in advance for you tips.

you should really take it to a shop to get the color matched correctly. it'll look retarted if you spray paint it and it doesnt match up perfect.

its possible.....but it might not turn out matching EXACTLY......but, if you wanna paint it, go to NAPA or another place that carries those little Dupli-Color Auto touchup spray cans. napa has a book there to match vehicles with can # codes.....but i dont know of anywhere wlse that would have those books.....

sand it, prime it, sand(if needed), do multiple light coats instead of one huge globy coat trying to rush it..........sand with really fine stuff.....like 600 grit or higher, clean off, clear coat a few times........hope it turns out good
