Wheel well cleaning

OK,
SO when I'm in Miami, usually I just squirt the wheel well with a hose or splash some soapy water and it gets clean. But now in Canada/Boston/NY the roads and salts are different and its just gets cruddy. When the car is lowered it will be less noticeable, but for now its just dirty. I've heard tire shine may help. But i believe the inner fender/wheel well is just a piece of plastic screwed on to cover the hole from the engine bay to the tire. So SHould I just use some armor all, or a plastic shiner/cleaner. Obviously first thing is to get a heavy duty sponge and just scrub it, but then what to do.
See my 'painted NX2000 rims' thread for what it looks like.

Seth

P.S. For those that think this is stupid. Remember the wheel well is the first place that rust hits a car. Along the lip of the wheel arch and where mud flaps would go are THE worst places for rust.
In general, and ALL of you should do this, take of the three screws that hold on a small plastic shield where the mud flaps would go on the front two wheel wells. Scrape out all that crap that is lodged in there, then put the plastic back. That stuff never gets out on its own, and it is always damp and never evaporates, so in a few years it will just eat through the metal.

scrub it like you said. then u can use armoral, tire shine, undercoating, or black engine enamel. tire shine and amoral wouldnt last to long obviously. so just clean and spray with undercoating that way next time it gets dirty all u gotta do is spray it off and it will be fairly black again. just my .02
