Carbon-fiber hood care

You guys have any special tricks for care on CF? I recently got a CF hood, and know nothing about how to care for it. Any special products? Polishes?Cleaners?

When they sent it to me, they wrapped it in bubble wrap and now it has faint little circles where each bubble was in contact with it. Any ideas on this?

What about scratches? What do i do if it scratches?

Thanks guys

I just treat it like a normal hood, no problems as of yet.

If you scratch it, its pretty much done. There is no-way( that I know of ) to fix a scratch in the hood.

i have allways though a c/f hood painted the cars body color with a 1in. border of the bare c/f around it would look really really cool.
as for those little bubble circles. you could just wax them out im sure. if not is clay bar ok for c/f? if so that will DEFFINATLY do it. get it clear coated so if you get minor scratches they will buff out. i have c/f trail wheels for my bike (remember those 3 spoke "spin" wheels?.........they rock bad ass) and yes when they are scratched it dosent come out, but my wheels arent the weave like your hood is so it was easy to cover up

To clear it up Carbon Fiber Hoods are gel coated like a boat....The best thing for them is 3m Boat Restorer Oxidation Remover/Polisher....Works great for those slightly oxidated areas....

I think its pretty cool to see peoples reactions when the hood is painted to match then you open the hood to show off the motor and they see the weave in the bottom side and freak out.

Of course the B14 hoods have that raise in the center part and you have the sides painted and that looks sweet to.

When a grisly killing spree in Vancouver left 15 women dead, PETA tried to purchase full-page ads in local papers suggesting that this carnage was no worse than the killing of animals for food.

Yeah, that does look sweet! I know a guy at the local speed shop that did that on his CRX.

When you first get the hood, the best thing to do is take it to a body shop and have it uv coated. Most companies only put the minimum amount of uv protectant on their products and they tend to fade after a few months. After having it coated, regular washing and waxing will help keep it looking like new.

You can still clear coat it after you've had it for awhile, it will fix those scratches right up. And it will keep your CF from turning yellow.
