I was told today that the clearcoat protector found at those drive thru automated car washes really helps keep the paint in new condition. I guess that and a bi yearly wax job would be all you need with clearcoat.
ps, that clearcoat protecter is BS... get a good wax on thier and keep it up,that will protect your car... people go through my werk all the time, saying they dont need a wax cause they got a clearcouat protector... you should see the surface of thier cars...
you should really wax every 3 months...

and a word to the wise............dont that new "tech wax" and the meguiers nxt its a waist of money. its much harder to put on and take off (past wax glides on that stuff you need to rub and it feels kinda sticky almost) just use gold class..................i love how it feels after you have waxed with gold class, the new polymer waxes dont have that soft/slick feeling to them
Do not use that stuff. Listen to all them, especially Blankgaze, he cares for cars for a living. And also i have to agree that Gold Class is great stuff!

i was implying that unless you were subject to harsh chemicals such as salt and things that can scratch such as sand, a few hundred dollar clear coat protectant isnt worth it. just waxing every 3-4 months and removing any harsh particles (bird crap, tree sap, etc) will take care of it.
