I use a product called Mean Green. I get it from the dollar store for $2.00. It is about the best stuff i've used. It won't damage your paint. Just spray it on, and then hose it off. You may have to use a brush on any thick grease.

Cover your distributer and plugs with plastic bags and also try not to get water on your starter. I'm pretty sure you can run your car for a bit to dry it out.

if your good (im good ) you can leave the car running while you clean it, if its hot enough, and your careful enough, stray water gets boiled away instantly on the hot engine(its gotta be hot!) be careful, some products are flamable!
