ok, the paint on my car is dull and ive tried waxing it but it lasted for like two days and went dull again is there any special wax to get rid of scraches and dull look? or does buffing work really good?
go to groits garage (web site?) and get their, paint clay system, orbital polishing kit, foam pads, and an orbital and you should be set. then their "best of show wax" and your car will look better than when it rolled out of the paint booth

First off, it GRIOTS (www.griots.com), and you can get an orbital buffer a hell of a lot cheaper than getting it from Griots. Yes they are good, but he doesn't own a Porsche.
Go to your local Auto store and get some Meguiar's. You can also go to meguiar's website and get some personalized detailing information depending on the conditions of where you live.
What year/color is it? What conditions, (i.e.: is it in a
garage, out in the sun, what?). My '98's that Sierra green,
and it looks pretty good, minus minor scratches and shit.
Red seems to fade, "dull" more than most colors, it seems.

ahhhh so thats why i couldn't find the site...thanks well i recommended all the griots stuff because its really good and his car needs a good polishing not just wax. and i have read that the griots orbital system wont cause swirl marks because the foam pads wont burn through the paint and the polishing compound breaks down over time so you can "sand" through the paint

You can get an orbital system and foam pads ANYWHERE. Griots is over priced for those items. Their car care products may be good, but he can go to the local store and get the orbital buffer and pads.
Have you used the Griot's pads? I personally know the owners of Griot's Garage, and have lots of experience using their products. For a Sentra that someone doesn't care much about, the pads you get a NAPA might be okay, but for a show car, it's different. Now, Timbo, you might be right in that for his use, an everyday foam pad might be fine, and he should certainly take your advice, but I would argue that the Griots products are a step above. Just depends on what his goals for his car are.

We're talking about a car that is worth MAYBE 5-6,000. That's nice that they are a step above, and you can have your own opinion about them, but I, myself, wouldn't spend the amount they ask for them.
I personally like Meguiars better. You guys can like what YOU want.

i would buy them simply because they claim to be safer than regular pads. and who cares how much the car is worth what matters it what it means to you, i would/will be spending the money on those pads and polish for my car. i plan on selling it and theres no better selling point than a flawless paint job
Don't roll your eyes at me. I said in there that he should take your advice, because it's perfectly valid, and probably the best advice for his situation. I'm simply giving my opinion, which I feel is valid based on the fact that I know the owners and what goes into the selection process for their products. If you feel that my statement that I know the owners is somehow designed to "elevate" myself above the "common folk," as I would gather from the tone of your post, you've pulled way too much out of what I said. Like I said, it just depends on what his goals are. There's a few Sentras/200SXs out there that might require a concours-quality orbital pad, and so, I threw out my opinion on the matter, as we are all entitled. If you've enterpreted more out of my post than that, then you're looking far too deep.

perfect condition actually. dull paint look really close looks like it has scratches. But the paints has not chipped off anywhere no wrecked or anything.
I bought it off my brother in law and he treated like a baby and kept it in a garage. Its black 98' 200sx se
but it has been sitting outside now because i live in a condo but i dont have a garage. Im thinking about buying a cover and i need to get the color back.
This is not a job for an orbital buffer guys. If you really want the car to look like new, the way to go is to clean it, cut it, polish it, wax it. You can do the waxing with an orbital and it would look great. But before you go their, you are going to need to use a polisher that brings out the paint's shine. Almost every company makes these products and most are for use with a rotary buffer only. Meguiars makes a long line, with one of their best being Machine Glaze. You are not going to find what you need to remove the fade in your local store, it will take professional products, knowledge, and at least a few steps (AKA it isnt slow). You could always just take it to a detailing place that does compounding and they can do this for you...but just waxing is probably not going to give you nice results.
