Question Parking Light Problem

2003 Sentra GXE.
My son just installed a new head unit and messed up the wiring.
The stereo works but I have no parking lights.
I found the (red/yel) wire (?) behind the stereo and when I put it to constant power the parking lights worked. For now I hooked the wire to switched power and they are on when the car is on, but the stalk switch for the parking lights is not working. The headlights are fine.
What can the problem be?
I've checked the fuses and they're OK.
Thanks for the help.
Steve
