Proper air pressure for winter tires

i know on the nokian hakka 2 tires it says max load 44psi.... is there an optimal tire air pressure for winter driving? during the warm months i like to keep em filled at around 38 psi.. can i do the same in the winter??

Keep them (close to) full so the treads can clear the snow out.
On ice you may want to deflate a little.
