SE-R Spec V Temp Computer

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum. I recently purchased a 2004 Sentra SE-R Spec V. I have a question about the temp computer. Is it normal for it to not be very accurate? It seems as if the temp indicated is accurated in the morning and at night, but during the day it can be off as much as 15 degrees. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm guessing that the '04 has some type of outside temp gauge and that is what your talking about??

yes, most cars are off. the heat from the car itself effects the reading.

Yeah that's right. I figured it was probably something like that. Thanks for the reply

I wonder its related to the car getting heated up in the sun. I don't check mine to frequenty. Try checking after driving for 15 minutes.

I tend to notice the mpg entry more often.

I don't know if it is normal, but I have found on hot days for the temp sensor to be off by as much as 20 degrees on my 04 sentra. I was noticing on 100+ degree days that the comp temp was reading more like 80-85 degrees. 95% of the time I find it to be close to the actual temperature...

The Temperature sensor is mounted under the hood; when the engine is hot and the car sits, the reading will be innacurate. Once you get moving and there is some ventilation under the hood; the temperature will be accurate.
