Frame Locks

I know this may seems as if though its a Cosmetic/Mods question, and I hope its not, but I recently purchased two Nismo license plate frames and they cost me friggin $30 a piece and I don't want to get them stolen so is there any way to lock them down? I saw all these kits to lock them down but it involves having another frame. I have a custom license plate and the frames but I'm too afraid to put them on because the Ricers where I work steal everything. I keep it garaged at night but what happens when I park it anywhere? Are there screws with locks like the ones those old fashioned computers used to have? Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Hmm....there's not really an easy way to do that man. I would suggest to either have them on when you want to show off, or just keep them on and deal with someone maybe potentially stealing them. I don't have license plate frames on my ride.

I feel ya. I had a Nissan license plate frame on my car. I went to get gas one day and glanced back and the whole works was gone. They just ripped the whole thing off, frame, license plate, screws, and plastic inserts. I was pissed. Fuckin crooks.

LOL I'm sorry for laughing but that is pretty hilarious if you think about it. Thats kinda hard to imagine why the hell they would steal everything like that. Was it a fancy license plate frame? Man that really sucks. Was there any damage to the car at all? Now I'm scared to put them on my car, and if they stole them when you turned your back I don't even want to think what they will do with mine when I park it on the street when I go to work...

Well, Nissan has a license plate frame that says SE-R. I would get that one. Then if anyone steals the damn thing, you will at least have it narrowed down to an SE-R owner. I think my next frame will be a Spec-v one.

well, i was never gonna spend $30 on a licsence plate frame but they do look kind cool, thats why for the first few months that i had my car, i made my own. it was black and i put a spec-V sticker on it and clear coated the thing, it looked sweet....until some asshole at school stole it too....bastards. i'd just stick with a plain black steel frame, or a company frame (injen, greddy, hotshot) and draw less attention to assholes

Unhappy Waste

So what you're saying is... I just wasted $60.... Ok how about this. What if I use nuts and bolts and bolt it down from the inside somehow? You think they can still steal it? I thought that just because it said Nismo on it that they would want to steal it I didn't think they would steal other ones. Stupid mofos who dont have anything better to do than steal license plate frames...

you could find some special Hex bolts and nuts that will fasten real tight with some big washers and bolts that go all the way through, then torque them real tight. this will probably stop most ricers with screwdrivers in their trunks... or just put them on at a show and take them off normally.

definitly use a hex bolt, not screws, that eliminates 95% of rando mthieves, most people have a screwdriver in thier car. but not ratchets and wrenches...

Yeah I know I got screwed but ah well...I don't wanna be like every other ricer out there with fake parts and decals on my car for parts I have don't even have installed you know? At least I'll have the Nismo Intake in there by April if I don't keep wasting my money on stupid things like the frames and stuff. I wasn't looking for anyone to say wow and ooohhh that looks nice its just something for me. Its just a little thing not like the ricers and thier fancy paintjobs and body kits and crap you know? Its subtle and its not like I have Nismo written on every inch of my car.....yet....LOL j/k.

I asked a ricer about it and he recommened the same thing (don't worry I'm not calling you a ricer). Maybe they are catching on and walking around with hex keys now...hmmm... So you think the Home Depot should have those hex things? cause the ricers at the "speedshops" as they call them didn't have it. By the way I returned the plates and I got cheap rip off Ebay ones for $8! lol. I know i said i wanted real parts but if its gonna get stolen I can live with imitation for a while I guess. Thanx though, and I will look for the hex thing.

we used to have them at the dealership... just bring the screws that are holding your plate on to HD, go tto the screw section and match em up... get screws without slotted heads, that only a wrench or nutdriver(heheheheheh) can put on, tighten the fuck outta them and you should be good 2 go yo...

btw i love rice, it fills me up good!!!
