I've read on Marylands Motor Vehicle Site that your car will not pass emissions if any error codes in the memory of your ECU are recovered during testing pertaining to emissions.

Has anyone else heard about this anywhere else?
Does the 02+ Spec V ECU have a memory component that can not be wiped out or is it just an old code that you haven't cleared?

OBDII systems ('96 and up) have a memory. They store intermittent codes (ex. random misfire) and most also contain failure records, and fail since clear records. So basically if your CEL comes on at any point when your running (even if it goes back out) you have a code stored in your ECM. Some systems have a procedure to clear ALL codes without a Scan Tool. Dont know if newer Nissans have this or not. Get a Haynes or Chiltons manual and it should tell you.
